4.0 Format – Surface Boat
4.1 General - Wave/Hole Riding
Preliminaries / Quarter Finals / Semi Finals and Finals - one practise ride for each competitor
The run begins as the competitor crosses the main lateral of the wave/hole or with an entry move from upstream when the boat makes contact with wave/hole. The run continues until the time limit.
4.2 Tie Breaking
For K-1 and C-1 in the preliminary rounds, highest score for a single run of all runs in the wave/hole will break tie. If the tie remains after formula for the Finals’ qualifying position, both competitors will advance to the Finals.
Tie breaking OC-1: the highest score for a single run of all four runs will break tie. If the tie remains for the final qualifying position, both competitors will advance to the Finals.
4.3 Tie Breaking In The Final
If there is a tie in the Finals for first place for K-1, C-1 or OC-1, both competitors will have a 45 second wave/hole riding run. The best score wins. The other competitor automatically places second regardless of their score in the tie-breaking round.
4.4 Competition Format
Preliminaries - Wave/Hole Riding
Two 45 second rides, both scores count (add together)
Athletes are randomly selected in heats for the preliminaries.
Women Athletes are seeded by preliminary results. 25% of the class rounded up to the nearest 5 with a maximum of 20 and a minimum of 10 competitors will advance to the Quarter Finals.
Men Athletes are seeded by preliminary results. 25% of the class rounded up to the nearest 5 with a maximum of 40 and a minimum of 10 competitors will advance to the Quarter Finals.
Women and Men Athletes – 25% of the class rounded up to the nearest 5 is less than 10 – class will advance to the Semi Finals. 25% of the class rounded to the nearest 5 is 5 – class will advance to the Finals
Quarter Finals - Wave/Hole Riding only
Three 45 second rides, best two scores count.
Top 15 Men competitors advance to the Semi Finals.
Top 10 Women competitors advance to the Semi Finals.
Semi Finals - Wave/Hole Riding
Two 45 second rides, best score counts.
For K1 - All 15 Men do two rides, top 5 go to finals.
For K1 - All 10 Women do two rides, top 5 go to finals.
Finals - Wave/Hole Riding for title of Eurocup / European Champion
45 seconds for each ride

All 4 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
All 3 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
Both competitors left do one ride, the top scoring competitor is Eurocup / European Champion.
5.0 Scoring Format - General
Scoring starts when the competitor crosses the main lateral of the wave/hole. (Exception of entry moves)
Entry moves from up stream of the hole/wave - The time will start once the boat makes contact with the hole/wave. Only the last technical end will be scored before the competitor makes contact with the hole/wave, no matter how many technical ends are achieved up stream.
The competitor may re-enter the hole/wave as many times as they like during the 45 second time period.
Anything created upstream of the boil line of the hole or peak of the wave will be scored
5.1 Scoring Format - Technical
Scoring Move Point Value
Moves are scored when there is a 180-degree change in direction and varies with the level of verticality, both in a hole or on a smooth wave.
I. Flat: 1 point (Flat = 0 to 45 degrees)
II. Elevated: 2 points (Off vertical = 45 to 70 degrees and 110 to 135 degrees)
III. Vertical: 4 points (70 degrees to 110 degrees)
Any Clear Air with a 180 degree change of direction will be given 4 points by the Technical Judge and recorded by the Technical Scribe
5.2 Variety Scoring
Competitors perform moves from the Variety Moves List to multiply their technical score. .
Variety judges calls EACH move done EVERY time it is performed to their scribe.
5.3 Scoring Calculation
3 Technical judges – average of three scores will count
3 Variety judges - average of three scores will count
Multiply the Technical by the Variety to give the final score
e.g. ( tec1+tec2+tec3) /3 X (1+var1+ 1+var2+ 1+var3) /3 = Total Score
5.4 Variety Moves List - Appendix 1
6.0 Judging

Judges only verticality as listed in the Scoring Format – Technical
6.3 Chief Judge
Over sees the six judges and scoring system
Ensures consistency and fair play
Has the authority to over rule calls by the judges or award a score if necessary
6.4 Judging Criteria
As each ride is performed, the judges verbally instruct the variety moves or technical points scored to their scribe who records on to the score sheet or electronic device as instructed.
The judges are to be separate so as not to hear each other as they call scores to their scribes.
3 Technical judges
3 Variety judges
7.0 Competition Format – Squirt Boat
Each contestant has three 60 second runs
Preliminaries - best two rides count
Top 10 Men competitors advance to the Semi Finals.
Top 10 Women competitors advance to the Semi Finals.
Semis - 2 Rides - Best ride counts
Top 5 Men competitors advance to the Finals.
Top 4 Women competitors advance to the Finals

All 5 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
All 4 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
All 3 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
Both competitors left do one ride, the top-scoring competitor is Eurocup / European Champion.
Finals - Women
All 4 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
All 3 competitors do one ride, lowest scoring competitor is eliminated.
Both competitors left do one ride, the top scoring competitor is Eurocup / European Champion.
Time will Start when the Competitor initiates or attempts the first scorable move.
For the wave the time starts once you cross the lateral
Same boat must be used for all rides
No alterations may be made to a boat between rides.
Weights or adding water to the boat is not allowed
Starting and performance location will be the contestant’s choice that are in view of the judges.
7.1 Scoring Format
Assign point value, which reflects the difficulty of each squirt boat move.
Each move is only counted once
Total variety score =technical score is sum of point value for all moves
Vertically – all moves preformed must be 70 degrees to 110 degrees to score as a vertical except washouts and mystery moves.
Splitwheels must be performed off the bow with a 180 degree rotation along the long axis
Trophy move is available and decided on site with judges discretion
E.g. flying fish, underwater loops and unarmed bandit
Mystery moves (multiplier) Scale 1-10 with multiplier as (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 …..1.9, 2.0)
Style points: Mystery style 1-5
Flat water Style 1-5
Total Possible 10
7.2 Scoring Calculation
Technical score + style score is combined for a base score
The mystery score of 1-10 is then transposed to a decimal system 1.1, 1.2, 1.3…..1.9, 2.0
The Base score is then multiplied by the mystery score for the final score.
7.3 Scoring Mystery Moves
1 - Mystery not attempted or attempted but failed
2 - Boat un-sustained
3 - Boat sustained
4 - Chest deep un-sustained
5 - Chest deep sustained
6 - Shoulder deep un-sustained
7 - Shoulder deep sustained
8 - Head under mystery with controlled exit
9 - Sustained head under mystery with controlled exit
10 - Multiple sustained head under mysteries with
controlled exits
7.4 Scoring Style
The style score will have a total possible weight of 15 points, broken down into the areas of flatwater style (1-10) and mystery style (1-5). This will be a subjective score, based on judges' assessment of the overall quality of each portion of the ride. Form breaks will be penalized heavily, while smoothness will be rewarded.
Flatwater - a perfect score of 10 would require a seamless and dynamic ride with no form breaks, that takes advantage of all available features (i.e. eddyline and flatwater). Rolls, extra strokes, choppy transitions, etc. would all detract from the quality of the ride, and points would be taken away accordingly.
Mystery - a perfect score of 5 would be awarded to a rider who demonstrates a controlled and intentional charc going into the move, obvious control while down, and control on the exit.

Definitions to the table above
Scored Moves: Moves that can be done front/back or left and right will be scored both ways unless otherwise stated in the descriptions above.
Cartwheels: To score as a variety point, cartwheels (left and right) cannot include the ends of a split wheel as one of the two ends. If a split wheel has already been awarded for variety in that run, the ends will count as part of the Cartwheel Variety Score. This only applies to Variety Judges. In other words, if a competitor does a left-right Split linked to just one end to the right, the first time they do it successfully, they get variety for Split wheel but not for right Cartwheel. The second time they do it, they get variety for right Cartwheel. Of course, if they do a left-right Split linked to two ends to the right, they get variety for both Split and right Cartwheel. If the extra end happens before the Split, the Split is still counted for variety and the Cartwheel is not (until the split wheel has been counted for variety). The Split wheel therefore takes precedent over Cartwheels.
To score variety: Cartwheels must have two consecutive ends that are at least 45° elevated. Clean Spin means one half of the 360 is without the blade in the water. In C-1 and OC-1 the blade must be out of the water for one of the 180's to count as Clean (using one stroke that continues across the bow does not count as Clean). Aerial Blunts are usually Clean (no stroke on the second end). They couldn't count for both Clean Cartwheel.
When any greater value move is performed more than twice, then the lesser value variety move is also attained. i.e. 2 Air loops are performed, an air loop is attained and a loop is also attained. This includes cartwheel, clean and super clean. Loop and air loop. Blunt, clean and air blunt. Spin and super clean spin.
Air Moves: Any Clear Air with a 180 degree change of direction will be given 4 Tech points
